Hungary’s Szijjarto Says Zelensky is Losing His Mind
He implied the drones "may have been conducting reconnaissance on the industrial potential of Ukraine’s border areas."
In a pointed reaction posted on X, Szijjarto stated, “President Zelensky is losing his mind to his anti-Hungarian obsession,” adding that “he is now starting to see things that aren’t there.”
His remarks suggest Hungary sees the accusations as baseless and rooted in growing animosity rather than fact.
Responding to Szijjarto's comments, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga launched a counterattack.
He maintained that “no amount of your attacks on our President will change what we – and everyone – see.”
Sibiga continued by accusing Hungary of hypocrisy and moral failure, stating that Budapest is engaging in both overt and covert actions detrimental to Ukraine and Europe, and acting as a "Kremlin lackey."
Szijjarto also expressed disapproval of Kiev’s decision to label three senior Hungarian military figures as persona non grata, which he described as evidence of Ukraine's “anti-Hungarian policy.”
The diplomatic relationship between Hungary and Ukraine has long been strained.
Budapest has repeatedly resisted calls from Brussels and Washington to supply arms to Kiev or support European Union sanctions against Russia, citing the potential harm such measures could inflict on Hungary’s national interests.
